Enhanced DBS & safeguarding checked Neurodiversity-affirming, never deficit-based

01 / The basics

What mentoring actually involves

Mentoring is a steady relationship with one trusted adult who is on your side. Sessions are conversational and practical: what happened this week, what is coming up, what would make it easier.

Mentors work on confidence and self-advocacy, motivation, friendships, independence skills, revision and study habits, work experience, interviews and the move from school to college, university or a job.

Most NeuCare mentors are neurodivergent themselves and many have worked in schools, youth work or SEND settings. Schools book the same mentors for students, with sessions logged against IEP and PSP targets through Neu Road.

05 / Questions

Common questions

How is mentoring different from coaching or therapy?

Mentoring is relationship-led and broad: someone in your corner, week to week. Coaching is more goal and systems focused. Therapy works on mental health and emotional processing. We help you pick during matching.

How often are mentoring sessions?

Most people meet weekly or fortnightly. Monthly care plans from £79 bundle regular sessions at a better rate per hour than booking one-offs.

Are mentors DBS-checked?

Yes. Every practitioner holds an enhanced DBS, and we check identity, references and relevant qualifications before they join the network.

Can a school pay for mentoring for a student?

Yes. Schools and trusts commission mentoring through NeuCare, either ad hoc or as ongoing cover, with spend and impact evidenced. See our schools page.
